A beautiful bride dressed in white ,wearing something blue, something borrowed, and holding back the happiest of tears…a handsome man sporting a white tux, a red rose, and a big smile…there is nothing like a wedding to bring about the best of all our emotions. Frank and Martha have spent a life apart…and yet, now, begin a whole new life together. Coming together on a beautiful May evening in Memphis, Tennessee…this small ceremony on a roof top terrace was full with two families celebrating the joining of two people becoming one…
Gwen and Eddie’s Memory Book
I couldn’t wait to get this memory book into Gwen and Eddie’s hands! It is the grand moment (in the process)…the edits are finished, the picks are made, the story is all laced together…and then I get to hand over a book full of their life.
During the actual photo shoot, I’m completely engulfed in (aperture, composition, speed, lens, focus, depth, that face, her glance, this place, his laugh, their hugs, unique details) the event. So much so, my emotions are put away for the sake of capturing. That is…until I stop (at the end of the event)…and ‘feel’ what I have in my hands. I have someone’s life, memories, time…all on film…it’s priceless and sacred. I feel the responsibility (to give it back). I’ve just borrowed something that I could never replace…that is the weight of what I hold when I end a shoot. A camera (or two) heavy with a person’s life and memory.
I’ve shot everything from business gatherings to weddings to birthdays to public displays to one on one sets…and it is the same. A rush and pure giddy pleasure…right down to the hand off of one of these books to the person or persons to whom the life (within) belongs.

WS Event Photography: Gwen and Eddie’s 50th Anniversary Bash!

Gwen and Eddie Saucier celebrated 50 years of marriage surrounded by those they love and those that love them. FIFTY YEARS! WOW! In true documentary style, I always try my best to allow the truth to present itself in the photos. Beauty isn’t only found in a smile, a perfect expression, or a happy moment. Rather, beauty is true; our true selves paused and reflected…in good light (I might add). All that said, the truth of the matter for this couple is love. I saw love over and over again in the way Eddie held Gwen in a dance, in the rhythm they would go about greeting their family and friends, and in the many soft expressions (to each other or to those willing to watch) found in various moments. The love they share radiated onto all 6 of their kids, their many grandchildren, and long-time friends.
This anniversary bash, which was full of dancing and fantastic food and lots of good ol’bear hugs, was a gift from their children (to Gwen and Eddie). But really, it was Gwen and Eddie that gave us all something a bit more than a grand time. To see and know such an authentic committed love between two human beings is to also move past a thing called hope and into a place of peace. Thank you Gwen and Eddie…and to your amazing family.
Photography: Gwen and Edde Saucier (At Home)
I was asked to document Gwen and Edde Saucier’s 50th Wedding Anniversary (a gift to them from their 6 children) and design a memory book telling the story of their time at the party. The party was a celebration of love and full of family, friends, music, good food, and plenty of dancing. Those pictures are coming soon! But, before we headed to their party, I decided to meet Gwen and Edde at their home. During documentary event shoots (like the anniversary party), the shots we get are what I consider ‘raw’ and real. There are no carefully ‘posed’ shots, rather, the shots act like memory. They complement what actually happened and trigger all the emotions and time you spent during that event: funny faces (faces you’ve always made and family will point to for years and smile…cause that is ‘you’) and a range of captured emotions that seem help you relive past moments in an instant. And so, for the lovely couple, Gwen and Edde, I wanted a few private moments (before the party) to document them at their home. They opened up with stories from living room to kitchen to the sitting porches. It was a short shoot, but in it is their life at their home. Thank you Gwen and Edde! Thank you for the love you share, for the love you continue to give to those around you, and for the many memories you gave to me.
Design: Type Based Flyers (a series of 3)
I love working with type. These flyers were completed for a client not too long ago, with information (type) being our client’s main concern (for the overall objective of the series). Our client needed their clients (potential and current) to get a vast amount of knowledge without giving up or getting bored. In other words, get people to actually want to read this information for us, and make sure they can scan when needed as well.
In large amounts, small amounts…type is (or can be) beautiful on its own when treated appropriately. Type design is much like a language. There are necessary pauses (spaces) that create melody and interest, there is personality that can or (not) have a ‘stage presence’, and there are attitudes (font styles) that lets you know who you are talking to (young, old, mature, childish). All these elements come together in a piece (like this series) to create a language (a brand language) that attracts (or not) a person to engage with the information.
For this particular series…Wallace Standard was able to guide the viewer into the information (a whole lot of information) without overwhelming them on sight.
Design: Wallace Standard WebAd Design
Always exciting to do work that gets so much air time! Wallace Standard has been busy this football and basketball season creating web ads for our clients. Each ad is individual enough to stand on each team’s site appropriately, yet we were able to keep a template design so that we could save design costs for our clients. Wallace Standard was responsible for the copy, taglines, and overall concepts of each ad. Our goal with our clients is to assist in everything, especially when working with larger corporate clients, who usually just need ‘it’ done correctly and creatively with as little design interaction (between them and us) as possible. Just do it good and right… That is what we do.
So far, we have ads for our clients rotating on the Colts, Patriots, Cowboys, Packers, Falcons, Ravens, (all football) and Hornets (basketball) websites. Glad to post a few examples.
Print Design: 2012 Vocations Campaign
We worked with Marie Constantine of Baton Rouge on Photography (as we did last year) to capture an open door into the connections between a life (in the church) and a life given to Him. We also focused on the design ‘inviting’ (the heart of) the young and old alike to visit the diocese and the men already involved in Vocations. For the fonts and color concepts, we combined a very classy approach with a more modern edge.
Corporate Identity
We have long established our design reputation in the corporate world. Working with large and small businesses on new endeavors, helping formulate those ideas into realities, and then following through on stellar design work has helped All Neue keep long term relationships with the majority of our clients throughout the years we have been in business. When Bethdales decided to combine their taste for unique home gifts with the obsession most Louisianins have for everything kitchen, BD Kitchen Co was born. We worked with Bethdales to merge their established brand to their new company.
